Diagnostic
& decision systems
for complex assets.
I'm Burak Suslu — optimisation researcher and technical founder. My PhD at Cranfield University's IVHM Centre built multi-objective frameworks for the hard engineering trade-offs no spreadsheet can resolve. Today I apply those methods through research, ventures including AcoustR, and advisory work across aerospace and industry.
I build the methods that produce those defensible answers. Multi-objective optimisation, sensor-network design, and diagnostic-contribution analysis — taken from peer-reviewed research and adapted to the platform, system, or programme in front of me.
The work began at Cranfield's IVHM Centre, validated on a Boeing 737-800 environmental control system, and now travels with me into ventures and client engagements. One method, three outlets: research that holds up to review, software that ships, and advice that survives contact with operations.
Four specialisms, one method.
Research, shipped.
Where the methods leave the page and meet a real machine, a real signal, and a real customer.
AcoustR
Turning microphone signals into condition assessments. A direct application of the sensor-optimisation and diagnostic-contribution methods from the thesis. Lead venture.
Sensorry
An applied tool for choosing what to measure on complex assets — packaging the MOSOF / NDCI workflow for engineering teams. Currently in prototype.
Three ways to work together.
I evaluate your existing system, sensor network, or operational process against information-theoretic, reliability, and cost metrics. Deliverable: a prioritised report with redundancy reductions, coverage gaps, and a proposed optimal configuration.
Develop a multi-objective optimisation framework tailored to your platform, system, or programme — drawing on the MOSOF and NDCI methods from my published research, adapted to your objectives, constraints, and decision criteria.
Ongoing strategic input for engineering and R&D teams making complex trade-off decisions. Monthly review, on-call expertise across optimisation, IVHM, and system architecture. Built for scale-ups, OEMs, and innovation programmes.
Research, made readable.
A doctorate at Cranfield's IVHM Centre on multi-objective sensor optimisation, with two contributions — MOSOF and NDCI — that quietly underpin the ventures and advisory work.
The shortest path from a rigorous method to a decision somebody can defend on a Monday morning.
Three entry points, depending on how deep you want to go.
Let's talk trade-offs.
If you're making a decision where the right answer depends on balancing many objectives at once — and getting it wrong is expensive — I'd like to hear about it.
